My back hurts. And it sucks.

December 30th, 2011 at 04:23 am

Ever since I had my daughter 5 months ago, I’ve been having back pains. This isn’t your normal back pains that would go away eventually. It’s ongoing. It gets worse every time I lift my daughter up. It sucks. It sucks really bad.

What’s worse is that there is a family history of severe back pain. My mom has had an open back surgery, and a few other back surgeries which were in vain, as it only got worse. I was telling my fiance about this, because it’s a huge concern of mine–my mom’s back problems started when she was young. I’m scared that I’m having the same fate. Is it wrong to be a little scared?

I almost didn’t make it to my prom…

December 30th, 2011 at 04:17 am

I didn’t want to go to my prom at first. The idea of going to prom without a date just did not appeal to me, especially when your friends had dates. It would have saved me a bit of money that I spent on my prom dress. It wasn’t like La Femme prom dresses or anything, but a simple dress (which I fell in love with), and that’s part of why I ended up going. I did find a date eventually, but I hit up the shrimp cocktail rather than the dance floor. Dancing isn’t something I do unless I’m drunk.

Nothing to worry about

I don’t drive. There are a couple reasons for that.

  • There was no need in New York to really drive. Many drive, but with NYC’s extensive (albeit expensive) public transportation system, it relieves the hassle of finding parking and the like. Even in the L.A area, as long as you don’t need to go anywhere after a certain time, or on Sundays, you can get away with taking the bus. And it’s a buck cheaper here than in NYC.
  • I have a fear of driving. Pedestrians aren’t treated too well by crazy-ass drivers. Those same drivers probably don’t have the same courtesy for other drivers. Road rage?

Now the whole fear thing is the main reason why I haven’t decided that I’m ready for my license. Too many “what if” scenarios play in my head. Will I do it? Eventually. But for now, I’ll leave car and rv repair to those who don’t suffer from paranoia.

Travel Channel

Thanks for the guest post by Jonathan Curtis

I love watching the Travel Channel. There are so many places that I want to travel and I love learning about new places that I have never even heard of before. I like to see all of the fancy resorts, learn the types of food that I could try if I were to visit another country, and learn about the different cultures in each country. I have been to a lot of different beaches in Florida and the Travel Channel always does a countdown of the best beaches in Florida. I have been to half of them, but I would like to visit the other ones as well. However, my favorite shows to watch are the shows when they do the countdown of the best resorts across the whole world. I would love to be able to go to all of the exotic, tropical resorts, as well as the elegant resorts in Europe. I am so glad that I researched direct tv euclid so that I was able to find the Travel Channel in my area. The Travel Channel definitely inspires me to be a world traveler.

Hoi Thar.

Crestfallen is the 3.5-year-old site of a sarcastic 20-something natural-born New Yorker/California implant who goes by the name Nat Marie most days, but answers to many other things, including Shadow, Chickenhead, and "Hey Bitch!". She has a love for writing, performing arts, and cats (albeit allergic to them). You will find love, life, and a lot of writing and sarcasm sprinkled in. Enjoy.
