Winding down…

The holiday season is finally winding down. Finally. I swear it; I think that it’s been shoved down our throats before Halloween. That’s 3 months of stressing over what to get for relatives, even the ones who won’t even get their own parents presents (long story). Then thousands of dollars and plus 15 pounds later, you’re busy working your ass off in more ways than one just to get ready for the next one. Ain’t that a bitch?
I am in the spirit just enough to not act Grinchy around small children. I’ve decided on baking some sugar cookies (which reminds me–I need to get some recipes). Children will enjoy it, diabetics will hate me. I love the Christmas carols, both traditional and contemporary. A few nights ago on Plurk, a fan of mine started singing (writing) “Last Christmas” originally by WHAM!. Immediately after reading it, I replied with a line out of the song. Although this song does remind me of him, it hasn’t kept me from belting it out. Santa wasn’t too generous in the love area for me, but it’s okay. I’m going to send an email to a Leprechaun from now so that I can be sent love by St. Patrick’s Day.
The thing I’m going to miss is my mom’s baked macaroni and cheese. You can’t get me to eat macaroni and cheese any other way, and she only cooks it at most 3 times a year. My mom has a creative hand in cooking, and for Thanksgiving this year, she made mashed potatoes with cheese. I gave her the WTF look, but she did it anyway. Now she came up with another idea–putting meat in the mac and cheese. Once again, WTF look. Then I said, “do not mess with the macaroni and cheese.” I like to nom nom, not puke puke, m’kay?
I’ll have to see if she listened.
But anyway, while it’s sad to see that after this Thursday there is no point of keeping Christmas lights up, it’s also a sigh of relief. Thank goodness it’s over and thank goodness I survived. I added the song “Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas” immediately after the voice blog recording1. Enjoy, and Happy Holidays.
PS: Today is the beginning of winter. That is teh sucks.
- I seem to be coming down with a bit of a cold. Thank you Mother Nature! Excuse the singing. ↩

What’s wrong with putting meat in the mac and cheese? That could be just as good…
Enjoy the last few days of the holiday!
P.S. This is the first time I’ve actually listened to an entry in all your vocal glory. I love your voice! Although I never imagined YOU would have such a softish voice xD

That sounds like that macaroni pie I told you about when I had to cook for this school dinner thing I had.
Wouldn’t it be nice if Santa could drop Mr Perfect (and I mean perfect for the receiver – specifically molded for the receiver) under your Christmas tree?) on Christmas day? Unwrap him and then watch him smile at you in his muscular, sexy glory as he starts playing ‘One Love’ on an acoustic guitar while beating me in Mario Kart at the same time…oh wait that’s my Mr Perfect…sorry…

I don’t like mac & cheese at all, or meat. ![]()

D00d you sound British and I am SO jealous. I freaking adore the British and want to move there so badly! Anyway, when I was little my parents always put hamburger meat in our mac and cheese, we called it Macaroni and Cheese with Chunks. How sick sounding is that?! It was good, though.
We ate it all the time because weez po.
Man seriously, that’s ALL I remember eating.. That with bread slices (butter on them) and green beans. That was my typical meal growing up!

I had macaroni & cheese on Sunday for the first time in ages. It was at a really fancy restaurant and guess what – they put meat in it! X( I don’t eat meat, so they gave me a new one (a meat-less one) and I passed my original one on to my friend. I don’t understand this trend of putting meat in macaroni & cheese!
You have a really nice voice. I haven’t heard anyone speak with an NY accent in so long – it was nice to hear.

My mom makes mac and cheese with ham in it, and it’s delicious. I know what you mean about Christmas lasting months, though.
I love your voice! It’s so smooth sounding, and you’re a really good singer.

Out of everything in your blog, the thing that baffled me most was what seems like disgust towards Christmas lights. Why on earth would you not keep them up til new years? They’re so pretty and magical!
what’s next… mac & cheese with spam?
happy holidays

@Justin – Actually, we keep them up until after New Years, but what I mean is that we really don’t turn them on as much after Christmas. ‘Tis sad. I love shiny things.
Update: She listened.
And I guess I’m lucky that my mom doesn’t care for Spam, or she’ll bring it up again for next year!
