The way out of my heart is taking my niceness for granted.

I offer subdomain and domain hosting. Domain hosting was by donation, but I decided to do away with it in my updated hosting guidelines (something that I haven’t done just yet). I’m doing it out of the goodness of my heart. I know how it is to be fucked in the ass by hosts in the past, so why not? Now in all of the guidelines, it always says this:

2)I understand that life is a bitch, but let me know. AIM me, email me…anything. Just don’t leave your site to rot. I would have to delete you. Updating at least once a week is a must.

and this one especially:

5)You should have a working email, and/or AIM. Talk to me, I’m lonely sometimes.

The reason for this is not for me to be nosy, but I’d like to know who I’m hosting at least a little bit. I don’t want to know their life stories. Just want to know how they’re doing and whatever. I’m open to it. I don’t bite…everyone.

I don’t have a lot of hostees, which is okay. I have a lot more domain hostees that spans across both my resellers. I do have space to spare, but still, when you have people who completely disregard rule number 2, and only do rule number 5 only to bitch about the server going down, that’s when I get a little unnerved. It’s one thing if the person is grandfathered in when I was doing straight-paid domain hosting through Unorthodox Host because they actually paid for their hosting. But everyone else I host was hosted afterward. Do they have the right to wonder why the site is down? Yes. But why is it that that’s the only time I’m contacted? I could not hear from folks for months on end and then, out of the blue…”Nat…my site is down! What’s going on? Fix it!” One time I really had no clue what was going on. People couldn’t see their sites, but I was able to see theirs perfectly.

Seriously though, that grinds my gears.

There are a couple of people who I hear from on a (semi-) regular basis. I talk to Lou every day. We’re pretty close because of it. I’ve learned a lot about her, and vice versa. Cool people. She’s cool people. I also hear from Chanty and Jaleesa as well. Girls, thank you, you rule, m’kay? Well, all of yall do, I’d like to hear from all more often! Also, when she was still hosted by me, Nellie and I were in contact pretty often.

I went through my WHM’s and subdomains, and I was completely blown to pieces at how many sites were neglected. Which is complete disregard of rule #2, and this rule for domain hosting:

If you’re going to move your domain to another host, please tell me so I can delete your account off the server.

I cleaned out several expired/neglected sites off the reseller. Both subdomains and domains. Some of them I found were working–somewhere else. I was like…o_O Email a sister, tell her you found another host, so that I can delete the account and clear up some space. I’ve found subdomains that weren’t updated in a year. What? Like I said, I understand that life’s a bitch. And something really bad may have happened that made it impossible for this person to come back. But the odds of that happening is pretty slim. I don’t change emails often. I’ve had the same one since forever, so it’s easy to get a hold of me. Contact me, let me know what’s going on. Doesn’t have to be personal. Just don’t use me as 24/7 tech support. Don’t take advantage of how nice I can be, because I’m starting to get annoyed at my own niceness.

And that ain’t good at all.

I know exactly what you mean here.

That’s life, no one will change that about themselves. People will complain about a free service & will only talk to you when they need something.

Hello. :D You might need to check on your RSS script there, it’s outputting some errors.

Hoi Thar.

Crestfallen is the 3.5-year-old site of a sarcastic 20-something natural-born New Yorker/California implant who goes by the name Nat Marie most days, but answers to many other things, including Shadow, Chickenhead, and "Hey Bitch!". She has a love for writing, performing arts, and cats (albeit allergic to them). You will find love, life, and a lot of writing and sarcasm sprinkled in. Enjoy.
