Another writing prompt:

You’re sitting at work one day and receive a text message from an unrecognized number. The text says, “I have the money and hid the body.” You think this is a practical joke from a friend, so you play along at first. But the more texts you receive, the more you realize that it isn’t a joke. Write the text conversation you have with this unknown texter.

Texter: I have the money, and I hid the body.
Me: When’d you kill him?
Texter: Last night. I chopped him up into little pieces, put him in a bag, threw his remains in the dumpster.
Me: How much did you get for it?
Texter: Not too much, about a thousand.
Me: Can I have some? I’ll pay you back when I get paid.
Texter: Um…negative.
Me: Why not?
Texter: Because I said so.
Me: But…I need to pay my rent.
Texter: Then kill your own man.
Me: And I need to feed my 6 kids. Their father didn’t give them child support yet.
Texter: No, I can’t. If I did, I’d have to kill *you*.
Me: Come on, Ti-Ti. This isn’t funny anymore.
Texter: Ti-Ti? Who’s that?
Me: I know that it’s you, Ti-Ti. Only you would do some sick shit like this.
Texter: lol. No, seriously, who’s Ti-Ti?
Me: You!
Texter: I ain’t no Ti-Ti.
Me: Mimi?
Texter: Nope.
Me: Kiki?
Texter: Nope.
Me: Shaquanita?
Texter: You got some ghetto friends.
Me: Oh shit…who are you?
