Yes, kinda early, but still…

As per Blog Talkers:

Please share your best birthday memory. Now, please share your worst birthday memory.

I’ll start with the best. Let’s go back. Way back. Back into 1987. I was turning two. I was a curious child. So curious that I got my ass whipped1 for it plenty of times. My mom threw a party for me and my sister (her birthday is a week before mine). She makes this slammin’ fruit punch. I think it’s a mixture of Kool-Aid, orange juice, and pineapple juice, and maybe something else; I was never able to make out all the ingredients. So she puts it into a punch bowl for the guests to pour out on their own. I get thirsty, and instead of asking a “grown-up” for it, I decided that it was a good idea to become independent and “pour” my own cup. See, the thing is, I didn’t use a cup. I basically took it to the head. Of course, that was a bad idea. I was wearing a yellow dress that day. When the incident happened, it went from yellow to orange. Needless to say, I got my ass whipped, and sent to bed.

You got your ass whipped. So why was it your best memory?

There are certain things that when you look back on it, you laugh your ass off. This was one of them things. This was the start of the “Terrible Twos”, and looking back at it, I think it’s hysterical. I mean, before the orange-dress incident, it did start out really good. So I don’t take into account the consequence.

Now for the worst. If you have been a follower of my site from the beginning (meaning March 2006), then you’d know about the emotional meltdown I had just days before my 21st birthday. I didn’t know how I was going to spend my birthday. I said that I’d probably go to dinner or something. Not once did the thought of ending up in the hospital crossed my mind. Other than the shrimp parmigiana that my parents bought for me and brought to the hospital, this tops the list for the worst birthday memory.

Last year, I decided to make up for that. Yeah, I wasn’t turning 21 again, but at least I was able to celebrate it the way that I wanted to. Being around friends made it even better. I’m actually glad I didn’t do what I intended. Obviously I wouldn’t have celebrated my 22nd birthday (or my 21st for that matter), but I also wouldn’t have met the best bunch of friends ever.

I’m glad to have them around for the 23rd. Which will be in 2 months from Thursday. :D Cuddles are wanted.

1Back in 1987, BCW did exist, but unless there were very obvious marks, they weren’t up your ass. Now let a perfect stranger see you even smack your child’s hand. It’s over.

Hoi Thar.
