WTF Moment: Now, was that necessary?
Wow, I haven’t done one of these in a minute, so I’ll do one now, since it’s been over a week since I’ve blogged, and it’s still fresh in the mind.
Coming from a friend’s house today, there were two pitbulls loose on the block. Their master is trying to get them into a car so she can take them home. One looked at us, and it was adorable. My friend was like “hey, it’s not going to bother us”. And that one didn’t. There was the other one, much bigger than the other, and the moment it saw us, it just barked nonstop. The master is trying to get it to get away from us, and it wouldn’t listen. So what does this little saucy bitch do?
Kicked it.
That’s right. She kicked the dog because it wasn’t obeying her. My friends thought that this was hysterical, but I’m a little more sensitive to it, because while I’m not a big fan of pitbulls (I’m a bit scared of them; they have a way of intimidating people), I still love animals. That was not necessary at all. There are ways to get a dog to obey you. Ways that do not resort to kicking it. I mean, kids disobey their parents all the time. Does it make it okay to kick them? I think of pets like children. You have to feed them, give them shelter, clean up after them, and give them lots of TLC. When your child disobeys, what do you do? Give them a time-out right? Yeah. Or, you give them a small smack on the bottom or hand. Granted you can’t give a dog a time-out (not that I know of anyway since their brain work differently), but you have to understand–you have to train them to be obedient.
Unfortunately, this is how some people train pets–put them through a form of torture. And this is why so many people hate dogs, namely pitbulls. Because the masters train them to be vicious and when they aren’t obeying–kick, or a punch will knock them into place.
I have a next-door neighbor who has two Rottweilers (another breed that I’m not a big fan of either–the intimidation thing again). One morning, he found one of the dogs eating the garbage. Instead of saying “no”, pulling them away, and nothing more, this fool punches her. PUNCHES her!! If I didn’t live in an area where you have no idea who has a gun, I’d punch the fool myself.
Oh, it gets worse. Just a few weeks ago, I’m getting the mail, and the master and both the Rottweilers are out of their yard. All of the sudden, all I hear is “get that ass! Get his ass!” He’s teaching them to fight. I don’t think he has a clue, nor does he care that one of them could have been seriously injured, or killed. Then what happens? They’d have Animal Control up their ass. It’s really fucked up. The only reason why we haven’t called on them yet is because we don’t really like conflict with the neighbors, so we basically mind our business. I’m sure that someone’s going to call eventually. It might be me next time, disregarding conflict.
People, no breed of dog is naturally vicious. It’s the evil motherfuckers training them that are. Shih tzus can be violent if trained accordingly, right? Goes for any breed. Same with children–expose them to violence, they may very well be violent themselves. Remember that. Be good to your pets.

I feel the same way. I could never hit or kick or whatever, any of my pets. Even my insane 200 pound huskey, whom insists on chewing up everything he can get his teeth on. I think there can be a more productive, less violent way of training animals. Violence isn’t necessary. However, there are lots of people who do train their pets this way. And I have nothing against them, but I know I could never treat an animal like that.

I can’t believe this! I’m so upset reading it. I hate it when people treat animals like that. I for one, believe animals should be treated with the same compassion as we’d like to be treated. Animals may not be human, but they’re not just… waste? I am just appalled.

I think people who mistreat animals should be punished and they shouldn’t be allowed to keep them. Also, those who train dogs to be violent need some punishment as well. I can’t believe people are cruel enough to make an animal suffer but then again they’re cruel enough to make their own kind suffer… Unbelievable.

Oh I can’t stand animal cruelty. Some people treat animals so horribly. How a person treats a harmless creature that can’t really defend itself really tells you a lot about them. Animals should be treated with love and care and not violence. I really can’t stand animal cruelty.

I can’t stand it either. My fiance dosn’t like animals…so he HATES it when the stray dogs in the neighborhood come into the yard. I love all animals, he would rather throw things at them and make them leave. But sense I throw a fit every time he has started calling animal controll instead.

And you know what…people believe that punching and kicking their dogs is a way of “toughing them up” and it’s NOT. All it’s doing is making them more angry and aggressive. When my cat is doing something wrong, I blow in her face or I clap my hands so the noise can scare her. There are better, more efficient, ways to train your pet and to discipline them.

Here’s the shit thing about pitbulls. Pitbulls aren’t innately bad…they’re actually giant goobers…problem is, people train them to be assholes.
We need to put THOSE people down.
