How to avoid a 10-page electricity bill for December.

Now that the holidays are coming up, it’s time to think about decorations and the like. I love looking at Christmas lights, but I often wonder how much debt do some people who go overboard on light decor are in after it’s all said and done (and this is not including gift purchases). My mom is one of those people who like to go crazy with lights. It’s beautiful to look at, but come January, the Con Edison bill is ugly. So, now that I see it, I’m going to tell her about getting LED Christmas lights.
Not only will we save money on the bill that can run $200 more than usual, but they last longer. In comparison to only 2,000 hours on normal (incandescent) lights, these nice LED mini lights last a whopping 50,000 hours. That means you don’t need to change the bulb for a very long time. Also, they only burn 1 degree above ambient temperature, so the fire hazard drops dramatically. This is perfect for me, since this is a big fear of mine–I hate being in the presence of lit candles, let alone a fire caused by Christmas lights. And finally, these wonderful energy-saving lights are encased in expoxy plastic bulbs, which are pretty much indestructible, so if you somehow step on a bulb for some reason, they won’t break as easily, if at all.
I don’t know about you, but I think whoever have LED holiday lights hung up in their yard are geniuses. I need to convince my mom to get these lights, and also get an artificial tree that have LED Christmas tree lights. Either that, or she can give everyone a moneyless Christmas card. Her choice, haha.
