The technology that was intended for tomorrow…here today!
If you haven’t heard of VoIP, then listen up. You might be interested after this post. VoIP is short for “Voice Over IP Telephony”. I’m sure you’ve heard of video phones. Well, that’s basically what it’s for. You can see who you’re speaking to. It kind of reminds me of that Simpsons episode when Lisa sees a fortune teller to look into her future and they were using a video phone. I always wondered if that would ever be featured in the future. Well, as cliché as it sounds, the future is here–and this, my friends, is proof.
Packet8 is an internet video phone service. They are offering two video phones. My weapon of choice–the Packet8 Tango VTA464.

Here are the features:
Smooth full-motion video
Delay-Free Audio
180-degree Rotating high quality camera
Built-in router
…And much more; I don’t want to spoil it for you–you gotta see!
I have a few online friends who I would call and it would be really nice just to see their faces (and their dirty looks, haha) on video. Internet phone service is just too cool to not try at least once. Hence, Packet8 offers affordable VoIP packages, as little as $24.99 a month. That’s right; if you have a high-speed internet connection, you can use your regular phone to make as many calls as you like (read: unlimited) for under $25. That’s 2 movie tickets in NYC. I’m willing to try; are you?
