Rainy Days, Shattered Dreams, and Mobile Memes

The Script Goddess came up with a very interesting idea for a meme.  It’s called the Mobile Meme.  Here’s my entry.

So I sit on my step (because NYC is notoriously dirty to be sitting on the ground), and this is my view:

It’s a dreary day because it’s been rainy and nasty for a few days now, and it seems like it’s neverending. Fortunately, it’s not ridiculously cold, so I’m not here, with a t-shirt and shorts, freezing my ass off. So I’m sitting here, not a bird to hear or anything, and I’m just looking and admiring our grass, and our ever-growing roses.  Then a van drives down the block.  Keyspan van.  My first thought is, “Holy shit, are they about to turn off our gas?” I mean, these assholes are known for doing that (note the incident with them and our boiler last year*). On top of that if they were going to turn off our gas, I’m the only one home, what the heck am I going to do?  Well, luckily they went back up the block, and I was breathing a sigh of relief.

I wish that it was a summer day where the sun was out and the kids were out of school, because it is so frigging boring!  I’m sitting out here hoping that something exciting happens (like last week when a crackhead got arrested for trespassing in a vacant house).  Nothing.  Then at that moment when I was going to go back inside, my parents come home.  Then my mom came up with this idea to walk around the neighborhood.

And that ends my mobile meme.

So what else has been going on as of late? Well, besides the fact that it’s been raining for which seems like a whole fucking week, I’ve been doing nothing.  Absolutely nothing.  I’m still looking for a job.  And to answer (I think it was) Nate’s question: my parents are lost causes to ask advice for resumes.  See, they never made it through high school, so they don’t really know about resume stuff, because they never wrote one, nor were they given training to write one, in their lives.  So with that, I have to ask my sister.  But I rather figure it out on my own.  I have a problem with stubborness and pride.

So my niece had a prom last week.  Please keep in mind that she is only six.  Why on earth do they need a prom, I do not know, but they’re going to Six Flags next week, and that makes me wonder again–what the fuck? I didn’t have a prom or a “senior” trip when I was in kindergarten.  Hell, we didn’t even go to Six Flags for our high school senior trip. We went to some resort in Upstate New York, when it didn’t even snow enough to go skiing, and it fucking rained all weekend.  And these little shrimps go to Six Flags.  I guess that’s what I get for going to a public school.  They’re too cheap to take us anywhere decent, lol.  Anyway, she looked beautiful in her dress.  I’d post the picture, but there are some sick fuckwads who think it’s fun to steal pictures of children and post it elsewhere as their own.

All right, so you heard me mention that part in my Mobile Meme that a crackhead was arrested on my block for trespassing in a vacant house.  Well, that’s the highlight of last week.  So my mom was going to check if we had any mail.  She’s checking, then all of the sudden, she tells me that there are cops around the vacant house across the street.  I was soaking my feet in water to see if my ankles can be a little less painful (it failed miserably), and my mom, who is naturally nosy, even though she doesn’t want anyone to know, goes outside to say that she’s going to do some gardening (when the fuck isn’t she doing gardening?).  An hour later, she comes back inside and tells me that my next door neighbor (who are dysfunctional as all shit themselves, by the way) called the cops, and that they caught the woman inside high as all hell on crack and they took her out in handcuffs.  They didn’t catch the guy, but I don’t think he will be going back there either.

So I’m working on two secret projects at once.  One is an idea inspired by one message board’s feature board, and the other is going to be an 18+ project.  See, I don’t have a name for it, so I’m calling it Project Sex.  It’s not going to be anything much to do with sex…well, maybe it will have some raunchiness to it, but that’s why it’s an 18+ project.  I want to launch it by July.  So if you have any names for it, comment here.  I will eventually have a subdomain for it.

As for Unorthodox Host, I had a proposal given to me, and I’m kinda apprehensive in taking it, because it would mean losing paying customers, which I don’t really want to do, but I do want to be able to pay for the server (speaking of which, apparently they either haven’t gotten around to shutting it off yet or I miraculously got 155 bucks lodged in my checking account).  I don’t know what to do yet.  I don’t want to give up, but I might be forced to.  So I’m pushing that, and advertising a shitload, seeing as my layouts won’t sell.  And I don’t know what else I can do to get some dough without robbing a bank or sucking off some random desperate guy.

So yeah, that’s pretty much all that’s going on right now.  Maybe the Mobile Meme will make me start blogging more often? I dunno, ha.
